JoAna Gray

Her Bio

JoAna was in the 8th grade when she won her school district’s penmanship contest – the best part was getting out of class to practice and being on stage to get that award.  She should have learned she was destined for the stage – something she still didn’t understand even when playing an extra in The Candidate, starring Robert Redford.  To this day, a faded picture of JoAna and Robert hangs on her “fame” wall.  She sees her life as a journey, without an itinerary or reservations, not a 6-day, 5-city tour.  She quit her job twice to travel for 6 months – once to see Europe and once to travel around the world - always moving to the beat of her own drummer.

Music has always been important to her, yet she never thought she would sing outside the shower or her car.  Her interest in studying singing with Pilar began seven years ago when she saw changes in her friend, Deborah Lynne, which had nothing to do with singing.  She started singing for “personal growth” and now she sings to bring down the house.  Her goal is to play Mama Rose in Gypsy.
